1. Gilbert Juma Deya

In 1990’s, Deya claimed he was able to make infertile women conceive through prayers. These children were commonly referred to as ‘miracle’ babies. His organisation which was known as Gilbert Deya ministries 'helped' sterile women including those from abroad. These ladies however had to travel back to Kenya in order to ‘deliver’. One lady from the UK was said to have had three children in less than a year.

His wife Mary Deya was believed to have delivered fifteen children on her own. However, a search conducted in the pastor’s house proved otherwise. 10 children who had no genetic connection to either of the alleged parents were found in Deya’s home. The same case was seen in 20 other babies who had been assigned to other parents.

These infants were stolen from their mothers immediately after being delivered and used as props in the ‘miracle babies’ play. Deya and his wife were charged with human trafficking.

Kanyari had been paying people to make false testimonies on the ‘healings’ they had received after being prayed for by the pastor. In order for a person to receive this miracles, they had 'plant a seed' of Sh310. Kanyari was said to have used these cunning tricks for 15 years.
