Speaking when he toured Garissa and launched several development projects on Monday, DP Ruto said that he is yet to start campaigns as his competitors are claiming.

According to the Deputy President, his movement across the country is about development and not campaigns.

The DP said that his competitors will be shocked when he starts campaigns for 2022.

“I am working for Kenyans by launching development projects across the country and my movements should not be interpreted as campaigns,” he said.

The DP said that his mandate is ‘demanding’ and involves moving to every corner of the country to initiate government projects.

He asked Kenyans to ignore politicians who are bashing him for launching development projects.

The DP said that he will not listen to critics, adding that time for 2022 campaigns will come.

“I am focused on working for Kenyans and when time for 2022 campaigns comes we will do it,” he said.

A section of politicians have been bashing DP Ruto accusing him of engaging in early 2022 presidential campaigns.

Some of DP’s critics are accusing him of allegedly using state functions to campaign for 2022 votes.

The Deputy President is among top politicians who are angling to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
