Echesa, who is being investigated over money laundering links, took to social media to announce his departure from office amid jitters in Deputy William Ruto’s camp following his dismissal.

During the handover, he thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy for offering him support during his tenure in office.

He also wished his successor the best as she takes over the new role in government at the ministry's headquarter at Kencom House

“At the handover ceremony of @moscakenya to the incoming Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed. I once again Thank H.E @UKenyatta &H.E@WilliamsRuto for considering me amongst 50 million Kenyans to serve my country in the capacity of a CS. I wish Amb Amina the best in her new role,” he said through his Twitter account.

Echesa has been embroiled in different political battles since he was appointed into office.

The Former CS faulted African Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga for the woes he is facing.

The allies of the ODM partron led by Senator Cleophas Malala have asked Echesa to carry his burden and stop attacking Raila, who has since vowed to work with Uhuru until his term comes to an end in 2022.
