Wajir West MP Ahmed Kolosh has vowed to win back his constituency's parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election.On Friday, Supreme Court Judges nullified the MP's election on grounds that it was not free and fair.Speaking to the media at the Supreme Court's premises, Kolosh faulted the court's ruling.Kolosh maintained that he was fairly elected as Wajir West legislator.“I am not happy with the ruling but as a patriotic citizen I respect it, ” he said.

He added, “I urge my supporters to remain calm and peaceful as we wait for the by-election which we will certainly win.”

The Supreme Court, while annulling the MP’s election, said that the IEBC's failure to compute election results from KARA polling centre meant that the results could have favoured both candidates.

The apex court ordered the IEBC to conduct a fresh parliamentary election in 90 days.

In 2018, the High Court, sitting in Nairobi, nullified Kolosh’s election on grounds that it did not meet the constitutional threshold.

The ODM MP then appealed the ruling in the Court of Appeal.

The appellate court then reinstated the MP’s election dismissing the High Court's ruling.

Abdiraham Ibrahim Mohamed then appealed the Court of Appeal's ruling at the Supreme Court.
