A train has killed an elderly deaf and dumb man at Makindu in Makueni County.
The man died on the spot after he was hit by the cargo train along the Makindu-Wote road on Saturday.
The deceased was cycling a bicycle headed to Wote from Makindu before he was hit by the locomotive while crossing the old Mombasa-Nairobi Railway near Makindu police station where the road meets Railway line.
Confirming the incident, Manyatta chief Mr. Kithome said the man failed to check all the directions before he attempted to cross the road.
"When he arrived at the junction because he doesn't hear, he just crossed without looking left right and the train hitting him on his bicycle dying on the spot. The bicycle was destroyed beyond repair," Kithome said.
Kithome said the section of the road is a black spot.
He said anybody killed around the area cannot be compensated by the state.
"Even if your cow is hit in the area, you can't be compensated," he added.
Kithome told the locals to be keener while crossing that section of the road.
The body was removed to Makindu mortuary.
