Raila Odinga's peace initiative received a major backing following the decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta's younger brother Muhoho Kenyatta to fully throw his weight behind it.
At Nyamira AIC, Raila said the historical Handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta would help stabilize the country besides restoring home that was dismantled decades ago.
"We need to get the country to where we started in 1961 when Kenyans were united in petitioning the British government to release the political prisoners who were in detention,” Raila said.
Muhoho said that because of the handshake, he took an initiative to visit Bondo and participate in the anniversary and church development.
"I am not a politician, but a development-oriented person who will stick by Raila for the vision of prosperity to be realised for all Kenyans,” Muhoho said.
It was Mr Muhoho Kenyatta's first visit to Bondo, the home of veteran opposition politician Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, a chief ally cum critic of his father, Jomo Kenyatta.
Mr Muhoho is a major player in his brother's government and is believed to have brokered truce between Uhuru and Raila last year on March.
So blossoming has been the Odingas and Kenyatta's friendship that even pundits have linked it to 2022 succession politics even though Raila has repeatedly denied of plotting a major comeback.
