Life on campus is always a sort of adventure to most young men and women.
This is the time they want to taste self-independence. But the manner in which campus students spend money carelessly on lavish lifestyles is worrying.
“In campus, I always spend freely: I am now in the third year but I can say that I am totally unable to control my spending habits and the same applies to so many of my colleagues; we tend not to think of where to get money tomorrow or life after campus,” noted Constance Anyango, a media student at Alphax College.
John Rono, a second-year Education student at Moi University added: “I have been so used to spending money anyhow since I joined campus two years ago: it is partly because of peer influence and this makes me borrow more the moment I become broke."
Most of college and university students have also been so much addicted to online borrowing that their names have been listed in the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
That has made it much difficult for most university students to achieve financial success.
“If only I could be spending my HELB loan appropriately while on campus, my life would be much better now,” noted Edward Kosut, a journalism graduate from Kisii University.
A majority of the students can not realize the dangers of misspending money until the time they get out of campus.
The responses from the students openly reveal how their campus lifestyle has terribly affected their financial success.
