Makadara MP George Aladwa now says that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga will vie for the presidency in 2022.
Aladwa noted that Raila is still energetic and can still fulfill promises he made to millions of Kenyans in his past campaigns.
Speaking to journalists at a church service in Maringo Friends Church in Makadara, Nairobi on Sunday, the ODM MP hit out at critics who are asking Raila to retire from active politics.
“As we know Honorable Raila Odinga will be our presidential candidate in 2022 and people doubting it should wait and see,” he said.
Aladwa hit out at politicians asking the former Prime Minister to back Deputy President William Ruto's bid in 2022.
He said that Raila does not owe Ruto any political debt.
The MP said that Raila will battle it out in 2022 but he is now focused on the unity of Kenyans.
He said that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila was for the good of Kenyans and that it will lay a foundation for peaceful electioneering and post-election period in the country.
Raila has several times denied claims that he will contest in 2022 stating that his agenda is to unify Kenyans.
A section of MPs allied to DP Ruto has been asking him (Raila) to pay the political debt he owes Ruto.
