An investigation into the authenticity of a leaked conversation allegedly between Ford Kenya Party Leader Moses Wetangula, and a representative of the Dubai royal family over the fake gold scandal has kicked off.
Confirming the new development, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said his team is examining the audio before any step can be taken.
He noted that he cannot confirm anything else, until his team determines the truth behind the alleged conversation between the senator, and a gold merchant presumably from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Kinoti said that several officers from his department are involved in the process as they seek to unmask the faces behind what is believed to be a business deal.
Wetangula, who traveled out of the country is yet to be summoned to record a statement over the same as investigations continue.
The office of the DCI is expected to conduct a forensic test to determine the hidden information behind the tape before the probe goes to another level.
Kinoti assured the general public that the truth will soon be revealed and those found guilty of the offense will not walk away free.
“The syndicate involves high and mighty across the world. But rest assured, I will nail each and every criminal involved in this fake gold scandal. Ali Zhadi of Dubai is among so many others who have been scammed by these criminals,” said Kinoti.
