There was drama in Bobembe village Nyamira County on Sunday after a middle aged man's body was caned after he committed suicide.
The man, Erustus Abuta, a bodaboda rider, committed suicide on Saturday night and his colleagues descended on his lifeless body on Sunday morning upon learning about his death.
His friends claimed that he has been threatening to commit suicide, with their attempts to curb him hitting a snug.
"Abuta for about two months now has been saying he will commit suicide but we warned him of the idea. His wife had abandoned him," said Elijah Mogambi, one of his colleagues
It however took the intervention of the local chief as well as the police to stop the errand bodaboda guys from canning the man.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Joshua Onchoke said the man committed suicide leaving a note behind claiming that he took the move after his wife eloped with another man.
"It's sad for a young man like Abuta to commit suicide and I would like to to warn all other men against taking such actions as there is always lasting solutions to such problem,"said Onchoke.
