Kibera residents now want the government to speed up investigations into the mysterious murder of Sharon Otieno, a second-year university student at Rongo University.
The residents said that Sharon’s murders should not go unpunished.
“The story of Sharon Otieno is saddening and we ask the government through relevant agencies to speed up investigations and take action against the culprits,” Monica Mbonne said.
She said that the killers who ended Sharon’s life should be hunted down through all means.
“It is saddening that some people can decide to terminate innocent life,” Jane Osoro said.
Osoro said that cases of university girls being killed are on the rise.
“People should respect the sanctity of life and stop this gruesome murders,” Patrick Ambani, a bodaboda rider said.
Ambani claimed that cases of university girls being murdered over love gone sour are many.
“These things happen, it is only that they are not being exposed,” he said.
“The relevant agencies led by the police should quickly investigate and bring the suspects to book,” Geoffrey Ndunda said.
“We are living in end times where people commit murder to settle scores,” Monica Owenga said.
Ms. Otieno, a Medical Records second year student at Rongo University, was abducted along with Nation reporter Barrack Oduor on Monday.
The body of the university student was discovered at K’Odero forest in Homa Bay on Tuesday.
The government has vowed to hunt down the suspects linked to the murder.
On Wednesday, Director of Criminal Investigations (CID) George Kinoti deployed an elite homicide detectives to Migori to probe the murder.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the abduction and is being held by detectives as investigations intensify.
