Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has presented before the County Assembly vetting and approval names of nine nominees for the Eldoret Municipal Board.

Deputy County Assembly Speaker Hosea Lamai while making the communication to the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) during a Wednesday session said the nominees will be subjected to vetting and approval by the assembly before they are formally appointed.

“I can confirm that we have received nominations of members to Eldoret Municipality Board pursuit to the requirement of Urban Areas and Cities Act 2011 Section 12 and 14. The governor is hereby forwarding the names of the nominees to be considered,” said Lamai who is also the Kapsaos MCA.

“The nominees come from different organizations in the county,” he added.

Eldoret town recently received a chatter as a municipality after gazettement following approval by the assembly which was later ascended to by governor Mandago.

The nominees include Walter Keya from Jua Kali Uasin Gishu Association, Geoffrey Kirui from Uasin Gishu Urban Forum, Winny Chelagat Maru (Kenya Private Sector Association), Richard Omunyala (Kenya Alliance of Residents Association) and Dr Job Kipkurgat Ngetich (Association of Professional Societies in East Africa).

Others include Evelyn Chesang Mitei, Julius Kitur, Peter Mwaniki Mwangi and Beatrice Githui.
