Speaking on Wednesday while launching construction of a vocational training institution at Marongo, Osoro said the move was now unique since other state officers have been receiving such perks.

"Those condemning MPs  for accepting to take home huge allowances should know that the legislators are also human beings. We deserve to live in decent houses because we also have families," he said.

Mr Osoro maintained that the MPs are not greedy as claimed by a section of Kenyans.

He said they serve Kenyans in legislative roles and therefore, there is no crime committed by hiking housing allowances.

Osoro told off Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) against interfering with the MPs new housing allowances.

"SRC should not see MPs as animals. We are human beings entitled to allowances. MPs won't turn back because we deserve to be taken care of as other State officers," said the vocal legislator.

He is serving his first term in the 12th Parliament on Kenya National Congress party.
