The members on Thursday dissolved all leadership positions and committees pending a fresh election and nominations.

Under the leadership of Majority Leader Ken Onyango, the parliamentarians all reached a decision to back the new approach.

The house is now expected to reconstitute all the committees in one week’s time.

According to Budget Committee Chair Steve Owiti who as well lost his position in the overhaul, the house shall in two weeks head back to the ballot to elect new house leaders.

"We agreed that in two weeks we hold fresh elections for House committee seats,’’ he is quoted by the Standard.

This comes barely a week after the house met opposition leader Raila Odinga whose Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party enjoys the majority say in the house.

Raila’s intervention came two weeks after a row erupted in the house, resulting to a scuffle between the members and the house sergeant-at-arms George Amayo for allegedly opening fire on them.

Raila who was accompanied by area Deputy Governor Mathews Owilli and Nyakatch lawmaker Aduma Owuor called for calm, and reportedly read the riot act to the MCAs.

Reports indicate that the former Premier urged the county lawmakers to conduct their business with decorum and avoid wrangles.

In the Thursday decision, the members also agreed to overhaul the County Assembly Service Board.
