In the battle for the song that will have the singular honour of becoming DP Ruto's 2022 anthem, 'Tanga tanga' by Propesa, a comical quintet of five blokes, is doubtless a strong contender.
The tune, which is a refix of Aslay's 'Natamba' and delivered largely in Swahili and a smattering of Kalenjin, has tens of thousands of views on You Tube, a month after it was dropped.
In the video, Propesa waxes lyrical about the man from Sugoi and his hustler credentials, a man who is expected to gun for top office in 2022.
"Hustler wetu milele... Usichoke tanga tanga, William utafika mbali(Our hustler forever. Don't tire roaming. You will get far William)," the boys croon.
Give it to the quintet, the song has all the hallmarks of a campaign banger.
It goes a long way in showing that the four are multi-talented and versatile, that is, though their forte is comical sketches, they can also sing.
And boy, they are good at it.
It is not clear what DP Ruto thinks about this romantic song or whether he has watched the video at all.
Propesa burst into mainstream fame in 2017 after posting their sketches online that left Kenyans in stitches, catapulting them into Kenya's Comedy Hall of Fame.
Their funny videos are usually riffs on topical and trending issues.
