Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has said they are not fighting Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
She said the claims that Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and herself are fighting Kalonzo politically are malicious.
Ngilu made the sentiments days after they formed the People’s Empowerment Movement (PEM) to fight poverty in Ukambani region.
She said the movement's aim is to fight for the locals' rights.
“It is wrong for people to spread allegations that we are fighting Kalonzo Musyoka, that is not true,” Ngilu said.
Ngilu addressed the press in Kitui town on Monday.
She said Kalonzo is free to continue with his political activities, noting that no one is undermining his 2022 presidential bid as being speculated in some sections of the media.
Ngilu said the resolve by Ukambani governors to work together is for the people's benefit.
She said Ukambani has lagged behind in development for many years.
Ngilu asked critics to stop spreading propaganda that could cause disunity among the Kamba community.
She said their agenda is to spread unity in Ukambani and other parts of the country.
Politicians and Ukambani residents continue to react on the PEM's formation.
