Nakuru County Youth leadership has called on Governor Lee Kinyanjui to disband the County Public service Board over what they term as discrimination against youths who seek employment in various departments.
They also accused the board of corruption.
Addressing the media in Nakuru during a breakfast meeting, the youth led by chair David Kimani claimed the county Public Service Board has been behind what is ailing Nakuru.
They claimed that the county has ghost workers are paid while youths are suffering from unemployment.
The youths now want Governor Kinyanjui to ensure the body is paid their dues, disbanded and other individuals brought in who can serve independently.
“We are calling on Governor to ensure the Public service Board is disbanded and a new one in place to serve people of Nakuru without discrimination. We also want a youth in that board- youth who can talk on behalf of the Nakuru youth” said Kimani.
While calling for a good working relationship Kinyanjui and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, the youth leaders drawn from different sub-counties said every political office should be respected.
They added that this was not the time for supremacy wars but rather a time for leaders to work together for development to be realized in Nakuru.
On the issue of embattled Nakuru County CECM Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture Halima Gababa, the youth leaders said they will not relent in ensuring that matters of youths are taken care of.
They called on Governor Kinyanjui to ensure that the slot is given to a youth who understand the interest of the youth as well as have youth advisors in every Ministry.
“We need good working relation amongst our leaders in Nakuru as well as a clear flow of information. On the issue of CECM Youth in Nakuru County we are proposing a youth to be given that slot and also we have youth advisor in every ministry," said Kimani.
