Last week, Deputy President William Ruto suffered a major blow after business mogul Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki joined CCM party, following a disagreement with a number of Ruto's aides.

“These are the people who have held the DP’s office hostage. When someone, including old women, want to see the DP he demands Sh50,000. Where do you expect a poor mother to get Sh50,000? This man is a tax collector,” said an agitated Mr Kiprop.

Renowned businessman and close associate of DP Ruto, Mr Sammy Kogo, hosted Gideon Moi at Sugoi, an indication that he too may have jumped ship ahead of 2022 polls. Mr Kogo has been a chief financier of Ruto.

Their relationship dates back to 1992 in the infamous YK92, a youthful lobby group that backed retired President Daniel Moi's reelection bid. Since then, the two have worked closely.

At Sugoi, former nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony was also present at Kogo's home. They met opinion leaders from Turbo and Likuyani constituencies where they discussed 2022 politics.

Senator Moi said he's not interested in early campaigns, adding that when the right time comes, he will mobilise Kenyans to vote for him.

“We should all unite as leaders to leave a peaceful and a united country for our children. We want to build a nation that the young generation will be proud of in future,” Gideon said.

“It is unfortunate that some leaders have started campaigns yet 2022 is still far. The top seat belongs to the people of Kenya and they will make a wise decision when the right time comes. I will accept defeat if Kenyans chose another leader,” he said.
