Drama engulfed Keroka town on Monday after a class 8 pupil was caught pants down with her teacher in lodging.
Witnesses said Erustus Makori, a teacher at Riverbank academy was found with the girl identified as Rose in the lodging doing sex.
"I saw Makori entering the lodging with the girl while she covered her face. I suspected something was wrong and tipped other locals.
"We waited for 20 minutes before we forced our way into the lodging facility where we caught the teacher and the girl naked doing bad manners," said Francis Omete.
Omete said the teacher was frog-marched outside while naked where he was thoroughly beaten.
"We beat the man up when the girl revealed that he lured her into the lodging after giving her Sh500 and promised to buy a dress for her once they will be done," he noted.
Area administrator, John Machoni faulted locals for releasing the suspect instead of surrendering him to authorities.
"I am not happy that the locals beat the man and later released him without informing me. I got the information late after the suspect had already left.
"Such teachers should be taken to court for targeting school girls to have sex with them," he said.
The chief urged lodging attendants to scrutinize clients well before admitting them and encouraged them to report any man found entering the lodging rooms with school girls.
