Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has received support over his closeness with Deputy President William Ruto.
Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i faulted Maang'i's enemies for being unhappy due to his close association with DP Ruto.
"I am in support of DG Maangi for agreeing to extend his hand to DP Ruto. Maangi should not be scared by some individuals who are out to fulfill a hidden agenda," he said.
The Jubilee lawmaker insisted that it not campaign or election period for politicians to spread propaganda about one another.
"We should serve the electorates and not engaging in divisive politics. We must work as a team irrespective of the party affiliations. Maangi's decision to accept working with DP Ruto is good because Kisii residents deserve development," he said.
Tong'i said he is open to working with his rivals for the sake of improving the livelihoods of his constituents.
He called on residents not to shy away and ensure they rectify him whenever he goes wrong.
"No one is perfect. I am ready to be corrected whenever I will go wrong. There is room for constructive criticism," he noted.
He was speaking on Monday at Nyanderema area in his constituency.
