Former Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday met Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa. The two met at the One Acre Fund milestone celebration of supporting small scale farmers in Lurambi ,Kakamega County.
It, however, remains unclear what the two leaders discussed during the meeting.
Echesa was fired by President Uhuru Kenyatta following a mini-reshuffle in the cabinet. He was replaced by former Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.
The firing of Echesa has continued to cause a storm in Jubilee. Leaders allied to Ruto opine that Uhuru’s move was meant to frustrate him as he seeks to ascend to power come 2022.
The leaders claimed that Africa Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga is behind the firing of Echesa.
The embattled politician has insisted that he was a victim of circumstances.
His dismissal came after Uhuru warned his cabinet team against engaging in premature campaigns before 2022.
Echesa was among the CSs who had been put on the spot for rooting for Ruto’s presidency even before Uhuru completed his second and final term in office.
He has also been linked to money laundering deals.
He, however, insists that he is innocent and he has never engage in such dirty deals.
