Elderly persons have been warned against using the money the government is paying them monthly to buy chang'aa
Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said those who will be found using the money to buy chang'aa will be removed from the register.
"Elderly people benefiting from the special government program should use the money appropriately to buy clothes, bedding materials and buy food.
"Anyone who will be caught using the money to buy chang'aa will be removed from the register for misusing the funds" he said.
He called on the beneficiaries to use the money to construct good houses instead of buying chang'aa.
According to Nakoru, the government is not giving the money for the elderly to use to drink chang'aa at chang'aa selling joints.
The commissioner said illicit brew business is illegal and punishable by law and anyone found making, distributing, selling and drinking will be arrested to be arraigned in court.
"War on illicit brew is ongoing and whoever who will be caught will face the law.
"It is time people should venture into legal businesses to boost their living standards instead of engaging in dubious businesses," he added.
