Lawyer Cliff Ombeta, representing the first accused Tuesday in the gruesome murder of Monica Kimani, told a court that his client Joseph Irungu was in need of medical attention.
According to Mr Ombeta, the wound in Irungu's hand has accumulated pus and caused it to paralyse.
"Even after referral that he be taken for surgery from the hospital that he was taken, it has not been done. His hand has gone numb, it is now paralysed. He cannot do anything with that hand. There is some swelling inside and there is a lot of pus coming out even now," Ombeta said.
The wound in Jowie's hand was sustained through a gunshot that police maintained was self-inflicted while he claims it was inflicted by thugs.
He faces murder charges alongside his lover Jacque Maribe.
Irungu has denied any involvement in the death of Kimani.
Kimani was found dead in Kilimani with throat slit.
The court has since granted the defence's prayer to have its client receive medical attention
