Siaya Senator James Orengo is looking for an easy way to weaken Deputy President William Ruto, Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said.
Speaking during a holy mass & fundraiser at Sisokhe Catholic Church in Navakholo, Kakamega county, Khalwale said that the push to remove DP Ruto from office is destined to fail.
He insisted that Orengo wants to use underhand tactics to frustrate the second in command as he seeks to take over President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He argued that Orengo is being used to ensure African Union High Representative on Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga has an upper hand in the race to succeed Uhuru.
“Honourable James Orengo, I have worked with you for 15 years. You know me and I know you. Orengo stop propaganda. This idea of saying you want to bring forth a vote of no confidence against the Deputy President you are not fighting corruption. You are looking for easy way to weaken Ruto,” he said in part.
The motion to impeach DP Ruto has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
The allies have faulted the handshake between Raila and Uhuru over the plan to impeach Ruto. Raila and Ruto have been engaging in bitter war of words for some time.
