Chief Officers play a key role in implementing County Government policies, Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi has said.
He said their roles are critical in order to ensure that devolution works while achieving concrete results, ensuring value for money and making sure development continues swiftly.
"I therefore like to remind our Chief Officers that as our accounting officers, you should acquaint yourselves with government procedures, as ignorance of the law is no defense," said Kingi on Friday.
"I wish you well as you endeavor to serve, work, and deliver services to wananchi integrity, accountability and dedication to ensure we implement our vision of a better and more prosperous Kilifi."
Kingi was speaking during the closing ceremony of a 5-day induction training for the county's newly appointed Chief Officers in Malindi.
The training comes even as corruption in government ministries continues hampering development according to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
While speaking at Gechauri village in Nyamira County during the funeral of the late George Ndemo Nyagarama, the son to Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, Odinga said the war on corruption should be unstoppable and should go on until it is defeated.
