Kisumu Central Member of Parliament (MP) Fred Odhiambo Ouda has vowed to make sure that the Deputy President William Ruto is barred from vying for Presidency in 2022.
Last week, Members of Parliament declined to endorse a motion authored by Ouda seeking to block the DP from the 2022 presidential race.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday, the MP said that he will soon move to court to seek for an interpretation on Ruto’s presidential bid.
“If you looked at the ballot paper, the President’s name was there and the deputy President’s name was also there. The image of the President was there and the image of the deputy president was equally there,” said the MP.
“The way I interpret this is very simple. For your name to be on the ballot paper, it is deemed that you are a candidate and you are voted for, and you are voted in the office of the Presidency,” he said.
The MP said that according to his understanding, DP Ruto will have served two terms by 2022 and therefore he should not vie for Presidency.
“I am going to court to know is this person eligible for an election after serving ten years,” said the Member of Parliament.
