Speaking on Tuesday at Nyamerako secondary, the locals protested that despite the government's efforts to end illicit brew businesses, there are some individuals still engaging in the vice.

"Making, selling and distribution of illicit brew in the area is still high despite the efforts local administrators have put to flush out those engaging in the illegal businesses. It is high time Matiang'i should intervene because local chiefs have been defeated in the fight against illicit brew businesses," said Samson Begi.

Begi who doubles as Nyamerako secondary school principal protested that some students skip classes and go to chang'aa dens to consume chang'aa which is readily available.

Bogikumu ward community policing chairman Elijah Nyakundi echoed Begi's sentiments and appealed to Matiang'i to order police officers Gesonso to wake up.

"Despite the intensified fight against illicit brews, some people are still engaging in the dubious business. Let Matiang'i issue orders to police officers to help in the fight against illicit brew dealers," said Nyakundi.
