Kamba is rich in culture just like other communities in the country.
In the past, wise sayings were used to educate, warn and even caution locals in Ukambani region especially by their elders.
Although Akamba sayings are rarely used in the region nowadays, there are those whose meanings will crack you up.
Some of the sayings include:
1. Mbui ikwituua yambiiaa kusisiva kitimba (a goat that has diarrhea starts by having a wet anus)
This means that before trouble there's always a sign, just like the Swahili version "penye moshi hapakosi moto".
This saying actually warns on looming problems that one is advised to deal with before it gets out of hand.
2. Mbiti ndikila kiwu itasamite ,Ndikakile suvu (a hyena doesn't cross a puddle it hasn't tasted to avoid crossing soup)
This saying warns people against ignoring things, urging one to try anything and take advantage of every chance coming his way. Who knows?, it may turn out good.
3. Ndanyuka mbola noyisaa kumelya (whoever chews slowly will eventually swallow)
This means no matter how long some things may take, they will eventually pass.
4. Mba ngeka methiawa matekite (Those who say I will do are always found having not done)
Same as procrastination is the thief of time. This saying urges one to avoid postponing things and instead learn to do them immediately.
5.Mundu ekiawa ivu ni munyanyae (one is impregnated by her friend)
This means that whatever problem you get yourself into, chances are people close to you put you in it.
Just like the Swahili proverb "kikulacho ki nguoni mwako."
