A section of Kenyans on social media have come out to express their fear over the suspected case of Ebola reported in Kericho county.

On Sunday, a patient was reportedly admitted at the Kericho County Referral Hospital exhibiting symptoms similar to those of Ebola patients.

In a statement, the Kericho County government, confirmed the incident adding that the county's disease surveillance team took over the matter, and put in place necessary precautions to contain the issue.

"This evening a patient presenting symptoms similar to those exhibited by Ebola patients was admitted at the Kericho County Referral Hospital.

"The County Disease Surveillance Team immediately took over the matter and took all the necessary precautions to ensure that there was minimal contact between the patient, and other persons at the hospital including the staff and the other hospital users," the statement read in part.

Following the announcement, a section of netizens expressed concern over the country's level of preparedness against the deadly disease.

Other users noted that the government should put in place strict measures to regulate people coming into the country from areas affected by Ebola.
