Speaking on Saturday, the close ally of the former Prime Minister said that neither Raila nor the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are paying much attention to the elections.

He said that the party might announce its plans in the future, but would rather concentrate on other things to give the nation time to recover from the 2017 polls.

Aladwa who is the ODM chair in Nairobi County added that the nation is still 3 years to the elections and therefore, there is no need for Raila to declare his bid or announce his plans.

"Kwa sasa hatuna uchaguzi, sisi ODM kazi yetu sasa ni kuleta watu pamoja (Since there is no election in sight, as ODM we have decided to concentrate on national unity)," he said.

The vocal parliamentarian was speaking on Radio Jambo's 'Mazungumzo Waziwazi' show, Saturday morning.

He added that the party will not allow itself to be dragged into the 2022 debate by some elements who have been going around the nation  publicizing their bids and those of their allies.

"Tusiingizwe kwa mambo ya 2022 hata kidogo (we do not want to be party to the 2022 debate)," he added.

Deputy President William Ruto's lieutenants have been in the frontline in publicizing the poll, ahead of Ruto's bid.

However, the same has been condemned by both Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta who want the nation to concentrate on service delivery and development.
