Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta of complete protection from his deputy William Ruto.
The MP who is a close ally of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga on Friday said that herself and fellow leaders in support of Odinga's 2018 handshake with Uhuru will not allow the DP to interfere in the newfound union.
Wanga added that they are ready to deal with the DP should he make any attempts to play games with an intention of breaking the closeness between the two leaders.
“I was opposed to President Kenyatta and was the number one defender of Raila Odinga and since Mr Odinga joined hands with the President, I have to support him. If Mr Ruto comes between us, we shall deal with him,” she was quoted by the Nation.
Wanga spoke when she led fellow women leaders under the 'Embrace' platform to a rally in Kenol, Muranga county.
The group consists of women leaders in support of the handshake.
Present leaders included Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, area Woman Representative Sabina Chege, her Wajir counterpart Fatuma Gedi and Likoni lawmaker Mishi Mboko.
Uhuru and Raila have since announced their commitment to remain united after their truce, despite questions from forces allied to the DP.
