The board of education in Kisii county has warned parents who eject teachers from schools in what they call poor governance, saying it is against the law.
While addressing journalists in Monday in Kisii town, the chairman of the Board of Education in Kisii Dr. Henry Nyabuto Onderi faulted the parents who unlawfully lock teachers outside the schools causing an unnecessary commotion.
He also said that the Teachers Service Commission is the only allowed commission with a role of employing, promoting or transferring the teachers.
"It is unlawful as the school chairman of the Board of Management to claim that the teacher brought to the school is not the best one for such school. This is a criminal offense that can lead one to jail. There is a Teachers Service Commission that deals with anything to do with teachers. There is no way someone can wake up and say that this teacher fits this position while the other one does not,” Onderi said.
"TSC is the only commission with powers to employ, promote and also transfer teachers from one station to the other,” he added.
This comes shortly after the parents of Magoga and Sare primary school demonstrated a week ago condemning the governance of the schools.
