Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji to speedily extradite individuals allegedly named in the Akasha brothers drug syndicate.
The lawyer says that suspects linked and named to the drug syndicate must be handed over to the US for prosecution.
Maalim wants individuals named in the drug syndicate not be spared no matter how powerful they could be.
“The DPP should move ASAP and have the suspects extradited to for their crimes,” Maalim said on his Twitter account.
Maalim said that drug business has consumed the lives of many innocent people.
The former MP said that the drug syndicate is rooted and must be uprooted for a better society.
The US government is said to be seeking arrest and extradition of powerful top individuals who are linked to the Akasha brothers drug syndicate.
The top individuals allegedly include politicians, businessmen, lawyers, judges, and prosecutors.
In an interview on Citizen TV, a month ago, DPP Haji said his office will act once it gets extradition requests from the US.
Among those alleged to have links with the Akasha's are some politicians from North Eastern.
He said that his office is also reviewing evidence in connection to the Akasha drug syndicate.
