The family of Farid Mohamed (deceased), a middle-aged man who was stabbed 25 times and killed by her girlfriend Ruth Kamande at Buruburu estate in 2015 has welcomed the High court ruling that handed his killer a death sentence.
Speaking to journalists after the High Court ruling at the Milimani law courts on Thursday, the deceased's aunt Emma Wanjiku said that justice has been served.
She told reporters that even though the deceased cannot be brought back to life, the court has rendered justice by handing his killer death sentence.
"We are happy and contended that justice has been served and Farid will now rest in peace," the tearful Wanjku told the press.
Wanjiku said that Farid was a humble and hardworking young Kenyan who did not deserve to die the way he did.
Nairobi High court Judge Jessie Lessit found Kamande guilty of murder and sentenced her to death.
In her ruling on Thursday, the Judge said that Kamande had not shown any remorse after killing her boyfriend.
Kamande has 14 days to appeal the death sentence.
