Kisumu County Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o is recovering at the Aga Khan University Hospital after he fell down and fractured his left arm.
According to a late Thursday evening brief released by his communications team, the county chief was in Nyeri County where he was attending the Second National Universal Health Conference when the incident occurred.
In a photo shared on the Governor's Communications Unit's official Facebook page, Nyong'o is seen wearing a sling on the fractured arm while seated next to Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana.
"Governor Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o was in Nyeri County on Tuesday evening to attend the 2nd National Universal Health Conference. Yesterday (Wednesday), he addressed the conference in the morning wearing a sling on his left arm," the statement read in part.
"The Governor slipped Tuesday evening and fell on a pavement while walking and fractured his left arm. With excruciating pain, he consulted a doctor in Nyeri and an X-ray was performed, revealing the fracture of the Humerus bone."
He is said to have undergone successful surgery on Wednesday night and "is recovering at Aga Khan University Hospital".
This is not the first time Nyong'o, a graduate of Political Science is being admitted in a hospital.
Eight months ago, Nyong'o successfully underwent a hip bone surgery in the US. The 90-minute surgery involved an eight centimeter cut on his thigh as the hip bone was replaced with an artificial one.
