Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has explained why Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has been silent as she battles her expulsion from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Addressing the media at her Kakuyuni home on Sunday morning, Jumwa said that Kingi’s decision to remain silent is his nature as opposed to supporting the decision taken by ODM.
“Although Governor Kingi has remained silent since he does not like commenting on everything, I enjoy his support and that of Kilifi legislators such as Owen Baya (Kilifi), Michael Kingi (Magarini) and Paul Katana (Kaloleni),” Jumwa said.
The MP has also accused the main opposition political party of applying double standards in expelling her. The decision to spare her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori irritated Aisha and she vowed to fight back. Jumwa claimed that her expulsion has made her a stronger politician.
The outspoken MP also blamed ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna for misleading her when he told her lawyer, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen that there was no room for apologies.
“Shockingly, on March 1, the NGC ratified the party’s disciplinary committee decision to expel me from the party but gave Hon. Suleiman Dori a second chance, saying he had asked forgiveness,” she stated.
