Former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim has renewed his rivalry with the Majority Leader Aden Duale in the recent developments in the house.
In a Friday tweet apparently directed to the lawmaker, Maalim says Kenyans made a grave mistake to entrust our national and local leadership to the wrong people.
"VAT on fuel is the beginning of a ferocious economic slide down. We must brace ourselves for hard times ahead. When the transaction of the affairs of state is entrusted with the wrong people the masses pick up the bills. Goldenberg had traumatised us for long and now Eurobond & Chinese," posted Maalim.
This emerges at a time when Aden Duale is alleged to have teamed up with state house in robbing the National Assembly the requisite two-thirds majority vote of 233 legislators required to pull down the President Kenyatta’s recommendations in the controversial Finance Bill 2018.
The Thursday controversial vote meant that besides the hefty fuel tax, all salaried workers will now be required to hand a fraction of their monthly pay to the national government to finance housing projects.
Mobile phone users were not spared as they will incur additional duties even as bank transfer costs skyrocket to fund an ambitious budget by the Jubilee government.
