Migori Governor Okoth Obado is a marked man within his party, ODM for going against the wishes of the Raila Odinga led outfit to support former Rongo MP Ochillo Ayacko in the race for the vacant senatorial position.

However, while defending his decision to go against the wishes of the party, the defiant Governor claims that some of the ODM politicians betrayed him in 2017 when they openly campaigned for an independent candidate, Ayacko, in the race for the gubernatorial position, despite the fact that he had the ODM ticket in that contest.

“Despite having the ODM ticket, the same leaders who have been claiming I am against the party and my party leader Raila Odinga openly campaigned against me, no finger was raised against them. I won’t be intimidated,” Obado said as quoted by Nation.

The Governor’s comment comes at a time he is finding himself on the receiving end from ODM luminaries who have accused him of betraying the wishes of the party leader who just a fortnight ago brokered a deal between him and Ayacko.

The deal was aimed at ending their bitter political rivalry that punctuated the 2017 election.
