A section of Gusii leaders have aired their views after Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati was endorsed for Kisii county governorship seat.
A Kisii based ODM politician Samuel Omwando said Kisii residents will have a final say on who will succeed Governor James Ongwae in 2022.
"We may endorse Arati but the electorates will have the final say in the ballot. Arati's supporters should not celebrate because endorsement doesn't mean he will clinch the top seat in 2022," said Omwando.
He said Kisii County MP Janet Ong'era has a right to support any leader of her choice to succeed governor Ongwae in 2022.
"There is no crime Ong'era supporting Arati. It is her democratic right to throw her wait behind any leader of her choice," he noted.
Jubilee politician Steve Arika said it is too early for endorsement to take place.
"We are too far from 2022 general elections. It is unfortunate the a section of leaders are campaigning instead of serving the electorates," he said.
Zack Oanda, a youth leader, argued that Arati if at all he is serious to vie for the county's top seat should brace for a tough race in 2022.
This comes after Kisii County MP Janet Ong'era while speaking at Bobasi area in Kisii County on Thursday, said MP Arati is fit to be elected the next governor.
