Violet Nzisa, wife to Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament David Gikaria was on Friday arrested and arraigned in a Nakuru court for contempt of court order.
Nzisa was arrested by officers working on a court order, after reportedly defying a court directive ordering her to compensate a victim, a police officer, whom she hit in a road accident.
The accused was found guilty of hitting Martha Onganga who is attached to the Nakuru Police Station in February 2016, and ordered to pay her a sum of Sh738, 721 on October 13, 2017.
"These are to command you to arrest the said Violet Nzisa and unless she shall pay you sum of shillings 739, 721 as balance noted in the margin, officers expense and fees if any, to bring the said judgment debtor before the court with all convenient speed," read part of the warrant issued by the court and served to the OCS Central Police Station Nakuru as was seen by the Standard on Friday.
At the time of the accident, the victim was traveling aboard a motorcycle as a passenger, on her way to Kaptembwo Police Station and sustained injuries that saw her admitted at the Kijabe Hospital for five months.
“I sustained a spinal injury and was admitted at Kijabe Hosiptal for five months. I instituted the suit and the court ruled in my favor, am yet to receive the money,” she told the court.
Appearing before Nakuru Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo, the accused was released on a 100, 000 personal bond, as she pleaded with the court to allow her to pay the compensation money on Sh20, 000 shillings monthly installments.
She is expected to appear in court again on Monday for further hearing.
