In an exclusive interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday night, Atwoli launched a scathing attack on Echesa claiming he was fired from the Cabinet "since he is cursed".

President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed Echesa last week under unclear circumstances and replaced him with former Education Minister Amina Mohamed.

The COTU boss claimed misfortunes were following the sacked CS due to his lack of respect for senior politicians and elders.

But in a quick rejoinder, Echesa said his sacking was not abnormal or extraordinary and had nothing to do with curses.

"At your age Mzee Atwoli you should be worried more of how best you've moved the Luhyia nation forward than a petty mundane matter of purported curse! As a long-serving unionist, you know better than hiring and firing of workers has nothing to do with curses," he posted on his twitter.

The former Sports boss further accused Atwoli of failing to initiate meaningful development projects in his Western Kenya backyard despite occupying the plum seat for decades.

"Stop thumb-chesting Mzee. Tell Luhyias what you've done to them even a simple project like a toilet. You're a big disgrace to Luhyia community," Echesa fired.
