Led by Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata, the team says Raila Odinga has already backed Uhuru for Prime Minister in proposed constitutional changes.

"We are not saying that Uhuru should not retire. We want his experience to be useful after 2022. ODM has proposed Prime Minister for him and those other interested parties should tell us what they will offer him," he said on Citizen TV interview.

The team has been pushing for constitutional changes to create a Prime Minister post for Uhuru after he retires.

Recently in an interview, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, a close ally of Raila, hinted that Kenyans should be ready for 'Raila as President and Uhuru as Prime Minister in 2022'.

"Be sure that Uhuru will be Prime Minister and Raila Odinga the president in 2022. If you're not ready for that, better start preparing."

When Uhuru retires in 2022, he will be 61, and the youngest ever to exit as president across Africa in a democratic nation.

But in an interview with CNN, Uhuru insited that he's not interested in seeking the third time, adding that constitutional changes have nothing to do with his stay in power.

"No, I am not interested. They are only changing aspects such as reducing burden brought by the constitution," he said.

In March this year, Uhuru reconciled with Raila Odinga in one of the unlikely events with the president insisting that the handshake has a deeper understanding between him and Raila.
