A humble couple from Gilgil lost up to Sh1 million after a pastor canceled their wedding in the last minute.
Apostle Jesse Karanja of the Mizpah House of Prayer subjected the couple to untold pain on Saturday when they expected to walk down the aisle.
Karanja was scheduled to officiate Joyce Waithera and Paul Waithaka's wedding but he delayed the ceremony until 6pm because of medical reports.
Everything was in place and the lovers were positive of their big day until they arrived at the church from their Gilgil home at 9am.
Apostle Karanja summoned the couple to his office and asked them to bring medical results for HIV and pregnancy before he could officiate their ceremony.
That is when drama started as they were forced to do the tests for three times.
The first and second tests showed the couple was negative for HIV as well as the bride testing negative to pregnancy.
He however ordered them to do a third test at a clinic of his choice and shockingly, the bride turned out positive for both HIV and pregnancy.
Karanja then said the couple had not met standards of the church.“Basic principles of our Christian Pentecostal ministry were not met.
As an apostolic leader I have to answer to God about your life… I have the authority to tell you, ‘you must go this way’. If you don’t do it I have a legal authority from heaven to ex-communicate you,” said Apostle Karanja.
At Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) ground where their reception was to be, guests decided to munch and leave.
At the KITI gate, Waithera was crying inside a hired Range Rover. She was still in her gown as darkness fell.
