Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has criticised Governor Ferdinand Waititu over the poor state of affairs at the Kiambu Level Five Hospital and other public health facilities in the county.
Kabogo noted that poor management is to blame for poor health services at the public healthcare facilities.
In an interview on K24 on Tuesday, Kabogo said that health facilities were in good condition when he left office.
He said that the issue of patients sharing beds, lack of medicine and equipment were never reported during his tenure.
The flamboyant politician said Waititu's excuse that an influx of patients is to blame for the poor state of hospitals in Kiambu does not make sense.
"These issues were never reported during my tenure and personally I blame them on poor management," he said.
Kabogo asked Governor Waititu to fix the various issues concerning the health department, saying that they will quickly bring him down if he does not act.
"Healthcare is close to the people and the governor and other elected leaders in Kiambu must act quickly," he said.
The former county boss asked Waititu to allocate more funds to the health department, noting that during his tenure he had allocated half of the county's budget to healthcare.
Waititu's administration has been on the spot over the poor state of public hospitals after claims emerged that patients are sharing beds at the Kiambu Level Five Hospital.
There are also reports that public hospitals in the county are grappling with an acute shortage of drugs.
On Monday, Governor Waititu blamed the congestion witnessed in Kiambu hospitals on non-residents.
He argued that a large percentage of patients at the hospitals are people from other counties.
