It now emerges that Kisumu West Member of Parliament John Olago Aluoch is one of the wealthy but silent leaders in the Luo Nyanza region.
The leader reportedly owns an entire island in Lake Victoria.
Aluoch is the owner of the Camp Tom Island which measures about 5 acres, and is located off Seme, a one and a half hour drive from Kisumu Town.
Speaking to Standard Digital, Olago noted that he has established the Maboko Island Resort, which has 3 self-contained well furnished suites and a helipad.
For the guests who would like to get to the hotel using others means, water transport is the only remaining option.
The lawmaker is ranked among politicians whose financial worth remains unknown and is not known to give out the impression of being wealthy.
He is as well known for his political daredevil stunts in the region, surviving without the backing of the area’s dominant Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Instead, he defended his seat in the 2013 general elections on a Ford-Kenya party ticket, before repeating the same in the previous 2017 general polls.
Kisumu West is one of the 7 constituencies making up the larger Kisumu County.
