On Sunday, Raila and his wife Ida Odinga hosted Unaitas Sacco board members for a breakfast meeting at their home before he presided over the opening of a new branch at Kibuye, Kisumu.

During the function, the former Prime Minister asked residents to embrace a culture of saving and support the new micro-loans lender in town.

"It is therefore important for our people to buy shares in Unaitas. It will boost your income," he urged.

Unaitas Sacco was founded by farmers from Central Kenya and has most of its branches concentrated in Murang'a and Kiambu counties.

Raila said he welcomed the institution to Nyanza as part of his efforts with President Kenyatta to unite the country.

After the ODM leader's gesture, Miguna now wants Kenyatta to do the same to demonstrate his commitment towards the Building Bridges initiative.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate asked the President to take his allies from Nyanza to his home county of Kiambu and help them establish their enterprises there.

"When @UKenyatta publicly takes @RailaOdinga, @RaphaelTuju_EGH and other KANU Orphans- not me - to Kiambu, Murang'a, Nyeri and Kirinyaga and OPENS and PUBLICLY PROMOTES their businesses there, only then will we know that the Mythical Bridges to Nowhere is genuine," Miguna said.

Unlike in the past, Raila has been receiving a warm welcome in Kiambu since his March 4 'handshake' with the President.

During the 2017 campaigns, the NASA leader was forced to cut short his address while in Thika after rowdy youths heckled and stoned his motorcade.
