Even before she took on stage at Safari Park hotel in Miss Tourism competition, Nyamira's representative Bernadette Ogega had lost the popular vote given spirited campaigns against her by her own compatriots.

Instead, Miss Bungoma, Joyce Lasambu, the eventual winner of people's choice and Miss West Pokot, who carried the overall crown, charmed the online community for obvious reasons; natural representation.

From her make-ups and dressing, Ms. Ogega, the outgoing Miss Campus MMUST, who doubles as the instruction's Vice President, struggled to impress her own compatriots.

"We don't do make-ups and bleach. Just try to be natural and you'll obviously carry the day," argued Matamu Sarah.

Another user, Edith Brenda said: " Too much make-up, I'll go to West Pokot Sarah Pkyach. She's decent."

But her diehard fans led by journalist Nyambega Gisesa vowed to stand by her side, no matter the outcome.

"Let's stand by our own. We shall handle the complaints later. We must take this thing," he said, even as he complained of rigging after the competition.

Last month, Nyamira county government dismissed Ms. Ogega as a 'stranger and fake' representative.

They distanced themselves from a competition held in Nairobi in which Ogega, an established millionaire business lady was announced the winner.

" I have never heard of such competition. If it existed, then it's just fake and not organised by us," said Tourism executive Peter Muga.
