Joyce Waithera, whose wedding was canceled on Saturday, is depressed, the family has said.
Waithera was to marry Paul Waithaka on Saturday at the Mizpah House of Prayer in Bahati before hell broke loose.
The pastor refused to officiate their ceremony even after he subjected them to three HIV and pregnancy tests.
Apostle Jesse Karanja said the couple had not met the church’s standards to be declared husband and wife.
Waithera’s father, Henry Kamau, said Karanja had been against her daughter being married.
During payment of the pride price, he delayed the delegation at the church compound without any reason.
As at now, we will decide what action to take. My daughter is depressed and needs time to comprehend what happened. This is not justifiable,” the father said.
Waithera said the turn of events sunk her heart.
“It was very embarrassing and heart-breaking for him to cancel our wedding after taking us through guidance and counseling sessions for five months. We had met all the conditions set by law and church. At no time did he mention we had erred in any way,” she said.
