Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Sonko said that life has not been a bed of roses for him.

He recalled how he was jailed on several occasions for being linked to various crimes. The governor, however, noted that his dark past didn’t deter him from being an achiever in life.

Sonko who is serving his first term as a county boss reminded Kenyans that the dark past of an individual doesn’t determine their success or failure in any way.

He challenged everyone to be proud of his/her dark past and work towards making life even better. The governor also reminded Kenyans not to be afraid of where they come from while they are striving to make life better for themselves.

“Your past does not determine your future. Be proud of your past. You should not fear where you are coming from,” he said during the interview.

The governor also promised to deliver his pre-election pledges to the Nairobi people. He noted that he will not sit back and watch a few leaders derail his plan as a governor.
