Leaders from the Abagusii community have been asked to stop undermining Deputy President William Ruto.
Millicent Omanga, a nominated Jubilee senator appealed to Gusii leaders to respect Mr Ruto since he is a national leader.
"It is worrying that some leaders from Gusii region are making fun of DP Ruto. I wish to urged my colleagues from Nyamira and Kisii counties to accord DP Ruto his respect," she said.
Ms Omanga warned Gusii leaders against taking DP Ruto's presidential bid for granted saying he won't force anyone from the community to vote for him in 2022.
"Ruto's State House bid is not a joke. Gusii leaders should be researching on which camp they should join in 2022. Ignoring Ruto will be a biggest mistake the leaders will make since Ruto's chances to clinch presidency are high compared to other aspirants," she added.
She appealed to members of the community to shun divisive politicians.
"Local leaders with an aim of dividing the electorates should be kept off since they will be chasing political relevance through divisive politics," said the vocal senator.
